Our approach
We worked with the committee to transform the brochure into a fully-fledged town website, designed to serve both locals and visitors while prioritising tourism.
The site was structured into clear sections — Stay, See & Do, Shop & Dine, Events, Gift Cards, Awards, and Bus Timetables. Each section was built using structured content types so information could be browsed easily on archive pages and expanded on single pages.
A key innovation was the Business & Community Awards voting system. To keep it fair, we restricted votes to one per day, which prevented ballot-stuffing. The system has been enthusiastically adopted by the town, saving organisers significant manual effort.
Over the years, we’ve supported the site with ongoing SEO and technical improvements, ensuring it remains fast, secure, and visible in search.
The outcome
Today, Visit Carndonagh functions as a true town portal. The site receives over 100,000 views each year, with high engagement on business listings and award voting. Last year alone, more than 10,000 votes were cast in the awards, demonstrating strong community involvement.
The site is now the go-to online resource for Carndonagh, supporting local businesses, promoting tourism, and providing essential information like bus timetables.

What this shows
This project demonstrates our ability to build directory websites and bespoke community portals. By combining structured content with interactive features like voting, we can create platforms that serve both visitors and locals while reducing admin for organisers.
